Quick Pickled Onions | Venetia Kelly


1 red onion, 1/2 cup cider vinegar, 1 bay leaf, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt and a few slices pickled jalapeños


Slice onion thinly and place in mason jar. Bring all other ingredients to a simmer and then pour over red onion and seal. Shake occasionally. Ready to eat in 4 hours. Keep in refrigerator.

What makes it special?

This is our go to welcome to the neighborhood, or just our circle of friends gift. It can easily be paired with homemade bread, cheese, hummus, salad, steak, anything really. There are many small variations that can be made to enhance it’s pairing especially use of different herbs and spices. Make it your own and share it with someone new. It’s vibrant color and big taste make it an easy way for you to extend a gesture of welcome.
