Historic Preservation Commission


About Us

The nine member Commission promotes historic preservation, recommends designation of historic properties, and prepares surveys of historic sites. Historic Preservation Commission advises and assists the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Adjustment by reviewing and reporting on development applications and preservation plans in locally designated historic districts and buffer zones. HPC makes recommendations to the Planning Board on the Historic Preservation Element of the Master Plan and the general protection of the community's heritage. They are empowered by State statued to rule on preservation plans. The Commission is governed by State Law.
